Dracula's Ball

What do we suggest you wear to the Ball? Well, we do not have a dress code as such, because we understand that interesting and exciting people come in many configurations, and not all of them happen to own $500 black latex form fitting catsuits. That having been said, we do try to present a certain theme and level of style at the Ball, and accordingly, we encourage certain styles of dress. After all, if you want to see people in jeans and T-shirts, you can go to any old bar or club.

If you're really nervous, or you simply want to be assured of looking your best, the ideal solution is to visit one of our retail sponsors here in Philadelphia. They've attended our events, they've seen thousands of Ball patrons in their various outfits, and have an excellent sense of style. A personal consultation at the store will certainly result in an appropriate stunning ensemble.

For the dangerous look, we suggest Zipperhead, located on South Street between 5th and 4th. It's the best place to pick up vinyl skirts, studded belts, mesh tops, and exotic hair coloring. For a more refined and period look, there's no place quite like Armed & Dangerous, located on 4th just south of South Street. For plush velvets, rich brocades, and stunning cloaks, this is your store. Also, don't miss their breathtaking collection of jewelry and accessories, from simple spiked rings to exotic finger armor with articulated joints, and much more. For something more provocative and sensual, consider Fetishes Boutique, located on 5th Street just South of South Street.

Want to raid your closet for something to wear? Read on! Our vampiric theme lends itself to a number of styles. The classic Victorian Dracula look is always appropriate. You can even stretch a bit and go with a Renaissance or medieval look if you like. Poet's shirts, bodices, top hats, and the like are quite acceptable (sword canes, like any other weapon, are not allowed.) The modern vampire look is also quite popular - slinky black dresses, leather pants, vinyl skirts, leather jackets, mesh shirts, and the like will fit in quite well. Formal wear is also most suitable - elegant dresses and tuxedos are welcome, although you may find them a bit restrictive to dance in.

While you won't be turned away in a t-shirt and jeans, you will be missing out on part of the fun at the Ball...and you'll stick out like a sore thumb. The Ball is a special occasion; make the most of it! It only takes a little effort to dress a bit differently....of course, you can always put a lot of effort into it and make everyone else jealous...

You can get an idea of what some patrons wore at previous events...take a look at some of our guests

More recent photos from 2002 are available, too.
